Retailing NVQ - Level 3
WHO IS IT FOR? This qualification has been designed to cater for the diversity of retailing activities. It is ideal for department, section and team leaders, specialist sales advisors and owners/managers.
The course contains a wide range of optional topics, to allow learners and their employers to tailor their course to their own requirements. The range of options enables candidates to follow any one of three pathways:
- Sales Professional
- Visual Merchandising
- Management

AIMS OF THE COURSE
The course enables participants to apply their knowledge, understanding and skills to a national occupational level required by employers, thus proving competency in their job.
Participants, who are already working in a position of some authority within the retail business and have a customer-facing role, can have their current skills assessed and recognised against accredited national standards and raise their level of competence at work to meet those standards.
CONTENT OF THE COURSES
The courses consist of a singe topic which is mandatory and a requirement to complete an additional number of optional units to be chosen from a comprehensive list of further topics. with a requirement for 5 Optional Units to be completed..
The Mandatory Unit covers working effectively within the retail team. The Optional Units range from general aspects, such as Health and Safety or handling cash, to very specific topics, dealing with particular types of product, such as fish, meat or pastry and the management of activities, at Level 3.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: - Minimum age 19 years.
- 3 GCSE's including English Language grade C or above.
- Participants must be working in a retailing environment or have an appropriate work placement.
- Satisfactory interview with the course tutor.
COURSE ASSESSMENT
Assessment of evidence in the workplace by observation, assessment of knowledge and witness testimony.
QUALIFICATIONS GAINED: City & Guilds NVQ in Retailing - Level 3
