    Storage & Warehousing NVQ - Levels 2 & 3

    WHO ARE THE COURSES FOR?
    These qualifications are designed for experienced people or those already engaged in some capacity in the handling and storage of products within the UK logistics industry.

    They are ideal for operational staff working who wish to have their current skills assessed and recognised against accredited national standards and to raise their individual level of competence at work to meet those standards.

    • Those taking this award can further their development in all aspects of logistics. This includes everything from procedures for loading, storing, warehousing, resourcing and transporting loads to multi-drop delivery, safety and quality, international road transport, and auditing stock levels/ stock records.

    AIMS OF THE COURSES
    This award enables participants to review their own performance against the UK Logistics industry standards for storage and warehousing activities.

    COURSE CONTENT: The courses consist of a combination of mandatory work, which covers the very general requirements of working safely with others, and a choice of additional topics which relate more directly to specific areas of work and can be selected to match the job content of the individual course participant.

    At Level 2, the course consists of two mandatory units of work and a selection of three further units to be chosen from the following five options:

    • Receiving loads and dispatching goods
    • Placing goods in storage
    • Assemble orders for dispatch
    • Maintain the safety and quality of goods
    • Maintain hygiene standards in handling and storing goods

    There are a further two topics which can also be included within the qualification

    • Operate specialised plant and machinery to performance requirements
    • Lift, transfer and position loads.

    At Level 3, the course consists of six mandatory units of work, which include elements of management, such as auditing stock levels. One additional topic is to be chosen from the following two options.

    • Lead the work of teams and individuals to achieve their objectives
    • Maintain the quality of external services

    Three further topics can also be included within the qualification:

    • Contribute to the selection of personnel for activities
    • Contribute to the development of teams and individuals
    • Respond to poor performance in your team

    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum age 19 years.
    • Candidates for the course must be working in an operational capacity in a warehousing environment or have an appropriate work placement.

    QUALIFICATIONS GAINED: City & Guilds Storage and Warehousing NVQ - Level 2 or Level 3

    COURSE ASSESSMENT: Assessment of evidence in the workplace by observation, assessment of knowledge and witness testimony.
